DESIGN WITH LOVE – 'CREATE YOUR FACE' CUSTOMISATION WORKSHOP (27/12/2019 & 11/01/2020)

On the 27th of December 2019, we organised a faux leather charm customisation workshop in the boutique, where guests were able to experience hands-on customisation for their Tomorrow Showtime shoes. The ‘Create Your Face’ workshop centred around the theme of self-love, pushing the motto of embracing the differences that make us all unique. It serves as a reminder to people that society’s standard of beauty isn’t the only perception perceived. The workshop included a variety of different, colourful facial features (eyes, noses, lips, hair, etc.) that guests could apply to their ‘faces’. Guests were also provided with other accessories like chains, gemstones, and more, to create a more personalised charm. Reflective shoelaces and embellishments were also prepared for guests to further customise their shoes. After customising their shoes, guests were taken to ‘The Gallery’ photoshoot corner to pose for a mini fashion shoot with professional fashion photographer Clash and Ting. The layout of the photoshoot corner has a meaningful story. An array of colourful fabrics were layered together in the form of bubbles that oat against a black background; a visual narration that represents the passion and dreams these unique individuals wish to show the (sometimes dark) world. In a world where societal expectations force us to conform to the norm, we tend to categorise others, especially those that are a little different from us, as lesser than perfect. The truth is, there’s nothing (and no one) perfect in this world. We all play a part in this life we live, and we are all equally as beautiful. So many are treated differently just because of society’s singular perception of beauty. We are humans, ones with dreams they wish for the world to see. All of us thrive with a passion and determination that shines beautifully in this world shadowed with darkness. DECONSTRUCTED SHOE EXHIBITION Alongside ‘The Gallery’ photo corner, the ‘Deconstructed Shoes’ exhibition was also on display. This exhibition represented the different spectrums of beauty, highlighting the importance of diversity and inclusivity for all humans alike. An array of colours was chosen as a representation of the passion and dreams these unique individuals wish to show the world. Different isn’t ugly, different is the beauty of its true essence.

DESIGN WITH LOVE – LOVE, HOPE, CREATIVITY

In 2017, Tomorrow Showtime worked alongside the Handicapped and Mentally Disabled Children Association, Banting, to organise a fashion photoshoot. The shoot featured our campaign muses, Min Mui, Suresh and Fui Yin as our models. As a platform for self-expression and creativity, the goal of the photoshoot was to emphasise and remind them just how important they are and to create beautiful memories together. Everyone donned on customised shirts and props brought by the team as the day continued with music, laughter, and smiles. The atmosphere was bright as we celebrated the endless anecdotes and dreams of our muses. We were also able to spend time doing arts and crafts with the other angels. In a world where art had always been a source of happiness, no words were needed as they expressed their stories with each brushstroke. The inspiration for this photoshoot came from one of our muses Min Mui, a joyful 51-year-old with Down Syndrome. Never caught without a smile, this bubbly lady stole our hearts with her affectionate hugs and kisses. She often walks around with a magazine clutched in her arms as she talks about her dream to be a magazine cover model. The whole experience sets as a reminder that despite our differences, everyone’s life is equally important. As human beings, every individual is deserving of happiness and should be given equal opportunities to make our dream come true. Sadly, facilities and homes for those in need don’t get enough funds to purchase and provide daily necessities to take care of those living there. Following the brand’s motto of love, hope, and creativity, the team at Tomorrow Showtime; through our platform, hopes to create awareness and remind people that with a little help, someone’s life can change.

DESIGN WITH LOVE CAMPAIGN

WHO ARE WE? Tomorrow Showtime is a fashion company formed by a team of young creatives who strive to create something that uniquely bridges both art and fashion together. Unlike traditional retail experience, we aim to be a brand and platform that engages and connects with customers. We welcome people from all aspects of life and don’t encourage discrimination or judgement. We believe that every individual has their own story and dreams that are unique. We hope to create a community that supports the spectrum of artistic talents by collaborating with them to share with the public. Everyone deserves an opportunity, and it takes one chance to change a life. How did we come about the Design With Love Campaign? In 2017, the staff at Tomorrow Showtime visited the Handicapped and Mentally Disabled Children Association’s residency (situated in Banting) and fell in love with the residents living there. Despite the living conditions being different, they were positive and welcomed us with smiles and hugs whenever we visited. During our visit, our staff connected with Min Mui, a bubbly 51-year-old with Down Syndrome. Her vibrant smile and positive energy left an impression on us whenever we came to visit. An angel full of hope, her constant love and compassion for everyone has brought continuous joy to those around her, but what stood out the most to us was her dream to become a model — a front cover magazine model to be specific. So, to celebrate their radiating positivity and love for others, the creative team at Tomorrow Showtime organised a fashion photoshoot for Min Mui, Suresh, and Fui Yin, three residents of the home. Our team also participated in the arts and crafts class with the other residents. During our visit, the management also informed us that facilities dedicated to helping those in need rarely have enough funding to buy daily necessities needed to provide the residents. As a brand with the motto of love, hope and creativity, we want to use this platform to create awareness and help those in need. We hope to remind people that with a little help, someone’s life can change. What do we hope to achieve in with this campaign? Designed with love, for love, this campaign focuses on the definition ‘beauty is found in imperfections’. The Design with Love campaign highlights the importance of embracing individuals as they are and hopes to encourage society to spread love and understanding rather than judgement and discrimination. With that said, we will donate daily necessities needed for the residents to live a more comfortable lifestyle. Together with donations made by the public and by Tomorrow Showtime, the purchased items will be delivered directly to the residency. We encourage everyone to partake in this campaign, as every help counts. Your donation will contribute to the purchase of daily necessities needed for a better living environment. The final chapter of the Design with Love campaign is to organise the Design with Love Grand Fashion Show (coming May 2020) in collaboration with the Handicapped and Mentally Disabled Children Association, Tomorrow Showtime, and many other organisations.
